Rev. Dr. Wes Avram Guest Sermon & Discussion at First Congregational Church (Camden, ME)

Join Rev. Dr. Wesley Avram, CMEP’s Academic Engagement Director, at First Congregational Church of Camden on March 1st for a guest sermon and afternoon presentation ‘After Gaza’: What Role the Churches in Pursuit of Peace? where Dr. Avram will introduce the organization’s work with particular focus on the response of churches and Christian leaders to events in and around Gaza since October of 2023.

The sermon will be part of the congregation’s 9:30AM worship, with the discussion to follow at 3 p.m. free and open to the public. These events follow the Feb. 20-22, 2026 Camden Conference, Today’s Middle East: Power Politics and Players.

Rev. Dr. Wesley Avram serves as the Academic Engagement Director at Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP). Dr. Avram is also the Emeritus Senior Pastor of Pinnacle Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale, Arizona. He has served as Assistant Professor of Communication at Yale Divinity School and as Chaplain of Bates College. His 40-year experience with the Middle East is informed by experiences with the Middle East Council of Churches and study at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the Interfaith Academy of Peace at Tantur. He is the editor of Anxious About Empire: Theological Essays on the New Global Realities (2006).
