Program Structure:

Duration & Commitment:

  • Terms Offered:
    • Spring: Mid-January – April
    • Summer: June – August
    • Fall: September – Mid-December
  • Hours: Minimum commitment of 220 hours per term for a half-time position, with full-time roles requiring 440 hours.

Onboarding Journey:

  • Week 1:
    • Group onboarding call with an introduction to CMEP’s mission, vision, and expected activities.
    • Interactive sessions to share your learning interests.
    • Open office hours to guide you through initial steps.
  • Week 2:
    • Task-specific meetings with your manager.
  • Week 3:
    • You’re fully integrated and ready to make an impact!

Hands-On Learning & Impact

  • Grant Writing Workshops: Learn to craft compelling grant proposals that can boost your future career prospects. Participate in weekly meetings to explore current opportunities and contribute to meaningful projects.
  • Team & Department Meetings: Share your weekly progress and learn what other teams are working on. This is your chance to understand how different parts of CMEP come together to drive change.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Bring your skills to new challenges. Whether it’s research, creative writing, or project support, you’ll have opportunities to contribute to diverse tasks.

  • Weekly Write-Ups: Communicate your work to the entire team, helping us share our successes both internally and externally.

CMEP is seeking inquisitive, independent, and enthusiastic undergraduate and graduate students interested in encouraging U.S. policies that actively promote just, lasting and comprehensive resolutions to conflicts in the Middle East through supporting and equipping grassroots advocacy and education. Ambassador Warren Clark Fellowship

Explore Opportunities in Peacemaking

Churches for Middle East Peace is seeking at least one individual with academic credentials, foreign policy experience and interest in the intersection of Christianity and foreign policy for an annual Ambassador Warren Clark Fellowship (AWCF). This individual will partner with CMEP staff and serve CMEP’s goals by conducting research, consolidating data and implementing advocacy initiatives for congressional engagement.

  • The ideal candidate will have a:
    – Masters or PhD degree in foreign affairs or a related field
    – Background in Christian advocacy and/or interfaith engagement
    – Willingness to commit a minimum of 20 hours per week for one year


Ambassador Warren Clark was CMEP’s Executive Director from 2008-2016. He was a career U.S. Foreign Service officer in the Department of State, serving in the Middle East, Europe, Canada, Africa, and at the United Nations. He was Charge d’affaires in Lagos, Nigeria; the U.S. Ambassador in Libreville, Gabon; and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Africa in Washington. He worked on Middle East oil price negotiations, was State Department Desk Officer for Libya, and represented the United States on the UN Security Council for Middle East and African issues. In 2005 he earned a masters degree in theological studies from Virginia Theological Seminary. He worked on international programs at the Washington National Cathedral and chaired the Commission on Peace for the Episcopal Diocese of Washington. He also has served as a chaplain at Sibley Hospital.

Volunteer

Volunteering with CMEP provides an opportunity for concerned adults to engage more deeply in the work of CMEP by helping with writing/researching, administration, communications, or organizing.

Regional Coordinators are vital members of CMEP’s work with essential roles in providing American Christians opportunities to support balanced and pertinent positions for U.S. policymakers that support peace in the Holy Land.

CMEP relies on partnership to promote a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, through a holistic resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Through our mutually supportive partnership we seek to support local efforts, maximize effectiveness, and provide opportunities to expand impact and influence in Middle East peacebuilding efforts.
