On Friday April 3, 2026, join the Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns to commemorate the Passion of Christ with a public Way of the Cross through Washington, D.C., institutions.
The Way of the Cross is a devotion that progresses through and commemorates Jesus Christ’s last day on Earth as a human. The observance invites you to reflect on Christ’s Passion and the ways humanity has broken its covenant with God through injustice toward people and creation. The Way of the Cross for Peace and Justice is a prayerful public witness that connects the suffering of Jesus with the suffering experienced by people around the world today. At each station, you have the opportunity to reflect on pressing global and national challenges, including war and violence, forced migration, economic inequality and the climate crisis, while lifting up signs of hope and solidarity.
The event will begin at 12pm at the National Archives in downtown Washington DC. The event will take around 2 hours, with around 2 total miles of walking between stations.
