CMEP’s cover letter to President Trump is below.
November 4, 2025
Dear President Trump:
We write to you as over one hundred Jewish, Christian, and Muslim leaders representing more than twenty countries. United by our shared Abrahamic faith and the conviction that every human being is created in the image of God, we express both our gratitude and our deep concern at this pivotal moment.
We are thankful for the recent ceasefire and the decline in active bombardment and violence in Gaza. This long-awaited pause has the potential to bring about desperately needed relief and hope to millions who have endured unimaginable suffering. Yet we know that the work of peace is far from complete. The people of Gaza continue to face catastrophic humanitarian conditions such as famine, displacement, and the destruction of basic infrastructure. Bombing continues as there are regular escalations between militants in Gaza and the Israeli military. Urgent action is still needed to ensure the full protection of civilians, the delivery of unrestricted humanitarian aid, and the rebuilding of shattered communities.
At the same time, the situation in the West Bank continues to deteriorate. Daily violence, land confiscation, home demolitions, and settler attacks perpetuate an intolerable reality of dispossession and fear. True peace cannot take root while occupation and systemic inequality persist. The futures of Palestinians and Israelis are inseparable, and any lasting resolution must address the intertwined realities of Gaza and the West Bank together, upholding the dignity, rights, and security of all.
We call upon your administration to help ensure that this ceasefire becomes the foundation for a comprehensive, permanent, and just peace, one grounded in accountability, international law, and the recognition of our shared humanity. We urge you to use the moral and diplomatic influence of the United States to help secure a future where both Palestinians and Israelis can live with dignity, freedom, and safety. Only by addressing these crises together can we move toward a genuine and lasting peace.
With gratitude, hope, and shared commitment to justice and reconciliation,
