Faith in the Context of Oppression: African American and Palestinian Insights

A roundtable discussion on the continuing injustices in Israel/Palestine and America.

Speakers:

Rev. Mitri Raheb (Ph.D., Philipps  University  at  Marburg, Germany) is the founder and president of Dar al-Kalima University in Bethlehem and the co-founder of Bright Stars of Bethlehem, a not for profit 501c3 in the USA. The most widely published Palestinian theologian to date, Dr. Raheb is the author and editor of 40 books including: The Cross in Contexts: Suffering and Redemption in PalestineFaith in the Face of Empire: The Bible through Palestinian EyesI am a Palestinian Christian; Bethlehem Besieged.

Varsen Aghabekian received her master’s degree in Nursing Administration from Indiana University – Purdue University, USA in 1983 and her PhD in Education and Administrative and Policy Studies-Education from the University of Pittsburgh, USA in 1988. Dr. Aghabekian currently serves as the Vice President of Strategic Affairs at Dar Al-Kalima University and is a policy and management consultant. She has directed several national studies and is a founding or board member of several NGOs and groups and active on human rights issues. Dr. Aghabekian is the author of several studies, books, manuals and national reports on Jerusalem, health, women in leadership, Christian immigration from the Holy Land and most recently (2021) on Armenians in the Holy Land.
